1.why were Americans afraid of the Soviet Union?
because soviet union was a super power and if they were to take over they woud drastically change the American way of life and impose communism.
2.What did the Russians want in Europe?
They wanted to enforce communism.

They wanted to create a new world order in which all nations had the right of self-determination.

Japanese Internment and Justice


1.What does the word "internment" mean?
The act of being incarcerated during war-time.
2.Why were Japanese-Americans interned in Manzanar?
After the bombing of Pearl Harbor it cause Americans to percieve them as enemies.
3.Why were Japanese internment policies wrong?
They were unjust because they took away not only their freedom but their jobs,businesses and homes.

He was successful because he won battles in many islands, for example Bataan,Leyte, and Iwo Jima.
2.Explain how successful th G.I.Bill was to returning soldiers.
It was successful because because 7.8 million veterans took advantage of this bill trying to get a college education
3.Why were Mexicans in L.A unfairly treated in 1943?
They got treated this way because 11 sailors in L.A reported that they had been attacked by zoot-suit-wearing Mexican Americans,so racist people went to Mexican American neighborhoods and beat senseless any Mexian wearing a Zoot-Suit.

2.What reasons did the POTUS use for using atomic bombs?
To save lives &'d most importantly to prevent an invasion.
3.*In 1942,why were the Allies under-strength to fight Japan?
They were undemand &'d their planes were handicapped because of the weather.
4.*Were American submarines effective in the Pacific? Explain.
They were very effective, thier achievements were notable even though it was a secret.Aslo they sunk more than 60% of enemy's ships.

l because he made the Nazi's surrender unconditionally.
2.What was the significance of "D-Day"?
It was the first day of invasion. Allies invaded in order to remove Hitler.
3.Was  Gen. Patton an effective leader?
General Patton was an effective leader because he liberated the french capital of Paris.
4.Why was the Battle of the Bulge significant?
It was significant because it was Hitler's last attempt/chance to win the war.

1.What was the OPA and what was their job?
Office of Price Administration , Their job was to fight inflation. They did that by freezing prices on most goods.
2.What was the purpose of the OSRD?
Office of Scientific Research and Development , their purpose was to bring scientists into the war. Not to fight but to create new weapons.
3.In what ways did Americans  sacrifice during WW2 ?
Americans had to ration supplies.
4.How similar or different were your sacrifices during the Iraq and Afghanistan wars?

U.S Gets Ready For The Fight

1.Who was Phillip Randolph, and why did he and President Roosevelt meet?
Phillip Randolph was an African-American labor leader, he met with the president because Roosevelt called him to tell him to back down and call-off the march.
2. Who were the WAACs and why were they important to the war effort?
They were women soldiers they were essential to the war because they could do certain jobs for example ambulance drivers, nurses,radio operators,etc. This also allowed more men to join the Army.


3. How well did African-Americans do during World War 2?
In the beginning it was bad because they were segregated, they only got remedial jobs and weren't allowed to take part in the war but in the end thanks to the agreement that took place between Randolph and Roosevelt  they began to get better jobs.
