Coming to the United States 1870's

1.How much time was the trip from Europe and Asia, and how would you have liked it?
If you came to the United States from Europe it would take about a week, but if you came from Asia it took nearly three weeks, Since the only source of transportation were the steamships the trip was longer. There is NO way i would have liked it, people liked to be light in the pocketbook with the expenses of their travel. So immigrants would all be crowded in a room, in unsanitary conditions, spreading diseases that caused some not to survive the trip.
2.What are the names of the main immigration processing stations in San Franciso and New York?Describe the immigrants experience at each.
The main processing station in New York was Ellis Island, and in San Francisco it was Angel Island. Immigrants were put through a long process that could last up to five hours and they had to pass a physical examination. They had to stick it out with the harsh questioning and wait in filthy buidlings.
3.How did Denis Kearney try to stop asian people from entering California in 1882? Why did he do this, and how would you feel if you were chinese?
